AboutEdu efforts to date could not have been possible without the help and commitment of our Volunteers.

We are very appreciative of your interest in committing some of your time to help us carry out the AboutEdu mission, and look forward to talking with you.   Regardless of where you are located, most AboutEdu volunteers can work with us right from their home thru online collaboration and projects in the following areas:

  1. Research - As part of a team evaluating existing, and new colleges and/or programs.
  2. Communications - As part of our online communication efforts to get the word out on tbhe resources available at AboutEdu.org to key audiences; communities, and organizations.
  3. Website - As part of our web services team:  maintaining and updating the current site; adding new features; improving design and flow of information; Spanish language web translation, etc.
  4. Funding Proposals - As part of a team putting together funding proposals or requests.

In all the volunteer project areas above, you will be assigned an AboutEdu mentor; go thru a brief AboutEdu orientation, and move right into the project you are being assigned to and the expected outcomes from that project.  Once you have reviewed and agreed to the desired outcomes, you will be on your own to get it done within the mutually agreed timetable.

Depending on where you are located, you may be invited to participate in local community outreach meetings, but the decision to participate on these is entirley up to you - Your volunteer commitment is an online commitment, and participaton in these onsite events is not required.

If you are still interested in volunteering some of your time with us, please send us an email to Volunteers@aboutedu.org, and include the following information:

  1. Your name and contact information
  2. City, State and Zip code
  3. How did you hear about AboutEdu
  4. Tell us about yourself and which volunteer areas are of interest to you - See the four areas listed above.
  5. Have you volunteer for another organization before? If yes, what worked and what could have been better?
  6. Resume or Background information

At a time when we are waking up each day to record breaking numbers of unemployed workers, and home foreclosures - you, thru your volunteer work with AboutEdu will be helping us to help others help themselves.
